Possibly the best wine tasting experience and some of the nicest wines we’ve ever had. Tania brought to life the depth and exceptional nature of this very special winery. I do hope the hardworking ladies collecting the grapes are well compensated for the great job that they do in enabling the De Toren to achieve its exceptional status and recognition. Well done

I called here just on the off chance, as it was getting close to closing. They couldn’t have been more accommodating and we sat by the window so we could admire the view, but benefiting from the fire on a cold Stellenbosch day. Firstly, the setting and tasting room is stunning You can taste all their wines, even the top wines, which are beyond my price range. They are very big, plush wines, meant for aging but I also enjoyed the entry level red. I was driving but my friend gave the grappa the thumbs up! Very knowledgeable service. Definitely a winery to add to your Stellenbosch visits.

Wine tasting at its best. An exceptional experience at De Toren Private Cellar. The wine tasting was perfectly guided by Anika, whose professionalism, knowledge, and passion for the wines made the visit truly special. The 1.5-hour guided tour with her gave us a deep insight into the winemaking process, from vineyard philosophy to the meticulous craftsmanship behind each blend. She explained every detail with great expertise while keeping the atmosphere relaxed and enjoyable. The wines themselves are outstanding—powerful, elegant Bordeaux-style blends that truly reflect the craftsmanship of the winery. We also thoroughly enjoyed the fantastic tapas accompanying the tasting, which paired beautifully with the wines and made the experience even more memorable. Combined with the beautiful setting, this was one of the best wine tastings we’ve ever experienced. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates world-class wine and a very professional, yet welcoming tasting experience.

The quality of De Toren’s wines is in a class of its own, but the presentation of their flagship wines — which can be cellared for the next 20 years to further develop their character — is truly incomparable. Above all, the outstanding way these wines were presented made the visit absolutely worthwhile. Be sure to book in advance, as peace, quiet, and time play a crucial role in the experience here. This was one of the best wine estates we visited not only in Stellenbosch, but in all of South Africa. Respect and compliments to the incredibly friendly gentleman who presented De Toren’s finest wines. It was worth it, and it was a wonderful way to close our vacation!
