Wine and port tastings under the vines along Route 62
Had a great time here doing the port tasting set. Lets just say our small group were very happy when it came time to go. Staff were great, there was quite a variety of ports to try, serving sizes were generous, the facilities were very nice. Fully recommend dropping in for a port or wine tasting session.
JP and his staff always deliver great food, friendly service and in such a beautiful setting. The tasting is well worth it with such a big selection and Witz's knowledge of the wines, ports and history of the town make it very entertaining. We enjoyed De Krans so much we went back twice in one long weekend.
Absolutely loved this place. Great wines and they love to share tastings. They have a great selection of wines and their ports are next level. We stopped over the next day for breakfast under the vines which was great as well
De Krans Wine tasting & Bistro Visiting de Krans in Calitzdorp on a scorching Oudtshoorn day turned out to be an absolute highlight of our trip. From the moment we arrived, despite the bustling crowd, we were seated within five minutes and immediately felt welcomed. The wine tasting experience was exceptional value at R60 for six wines, offering us a wonderful journey through the de Krans finest selections. What made it special was the interactive sticker system—each time you finish a glass, you receive a sticker to redeem your next one at the tasting corner. It added a playful element and got us moving between our shaded table and the wine station. Speaking of shade, the setting was simply magical. Nestled under grapevines forming a natural canopy, we were completely protected from the relentless sun. The gentle mist of water spraying through the vines, combined with the breeze rustling through our hair, created the most refreshing atmosphere imaginable. We savored our wines alongside a delicious cheese platter and fresh green salad, chatting away while soaking in the stunning vineyard views. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful throughout, making our experience even more memorable. De Krans isn't just a wine farm—it's a sanctuary on a hot day, and we left feeling thoroughly refreshed and delighted.
Helet our wine connoisseur was FANTASTIC!! We ordered a cheese platter with the addition of falafel and it took SOOOOO long 🙈 Helet did her best to remedy the situation!! We joined the wine club and ordered a lot of wine and port
