Working Paardeberg wine farm with tastings and cottages

About

AA Badenhorst Family Wines | Kalmoesfontein is a working winery in Malmesbury set across the slopes of the Paardeberg. Run by cousins Adi and Hein Badenhorst, our farm includes over 180 hectares of old bush vines where we produce Swartland wines. We host wine tastings, cellar visits, and vineyard walks alongside wood-fired pizza nights and farm lunches paired with our estate bottles. Horses, chickens, and peacocks share the grounds, which also accommodate weddings for up to 150 guests. Our property offers overnight self-catering accommodation in converted agricultural spaces, including the old stables overlooking the vineyards.

Spectacular Swartland farm long producing some of the finest dry land wines in the world. The farm, like its owners, is unpretentious, rambling, chock full of history and character. The staff are excellent, the food sublime & the wines just glorious. Adi & team you continue to innovate free fof all pretense. Semma runs the hospitality with charm & flair & her unassuming husband Charl cooks up a storm in the kitchen & huge pizza oven - think roast lamb, farm chicken & veggies that will convert the most hard core carnivore. The accommodation is steeped in old farmstead charm, spacious, rambling & stacked with charm. For a truly outstanding gasvryheid experience stay a full weekend.

Adi and the team, what an amazing weekend we had at your farm. The rooms are so beautifully done, full of character The dinner on the Friday night was absolutely incredible. Compliments to your brother and the influence your mother must have passed on to you. The tasting we will never forget, the most expressive by Adi in full flight. Don't miss this special part of the world, The Swartland, has so much to offer.

We had the most fantastic, informative and entertaining wine tasting with Selma Willemse today 24/9/25 at AA Badenhorst. She knows her stuff and is delightfully unpretentious- often rare in the wine industry. Then we enjoyed a harvest table lunch under the vine at the back of this little gem called Kalmoesfontein with a rich history. Accommodation also available and looks 👌
